This is a photo of my sister's cat, Vail, taken in December of 2012. She couldn't find a Christmas cat costume, so she bought one that was made for a chihuahua at a pet store. I find this photo scary for more than one reason.
I fell in love with this nine-month-old pup at the animal shelter. (You may recognize her photo from our Adopt Me column.) Whenever she'd see me, she'd jump up on her hind legs and wrap her paws around my thigh and hug me, almost like a human being would. It broke my heart when she was adopted, but I'm glad she went to a good home.

Dang, am I good looking! This is me and that's pink lemonade to my right, your left. (Signed AJ Nagel, Patch's only four-legged columnist)

It's National Pet Day!—A day devoted to people's love for their furry friends. In honor of today, Patch is inviting you to share photos of these special little guys.

Upload pics of your pets to our photo gallery, and tell us a little something about your furry (or not-so-furry if it's a goldfish, we're not discriminating) friend.

Don't forget to tell us the name of your pet, what makes your pet special to you and your name. If we get enough submissions, we'll hold a "cutest pet" contest on Friday.

To upload a photo of your pet, just click on the "Upload photos and videos" button on the top left of the screen under the headline. After you've uploaded your photo, leave us a comment and tell us how your pet got its name.

We leave you now with the top 10 names for male and female pets, according to petdayusa.com. Surprisingly enough, "Sparky" did not make either list.

Love the expressions on Belle, Milo and Little Taz! What kind of dog is the little guy in the chair? He's so sweet. And Matt: I never saw a dog eat peanut butter before. Thanks for sharing :)
