Are you crazy? People need to wake up and pay attention to what is happening to this country. All of our liberties are being taken away. The last thing we need is to forget about what our government is doing! Get your priorities straight!

Well, if you look at the cartoon closely, Charley is not advocating that people forget about the election. I think his cartoon just illustrates (humorously) his observation that a large part of the electorate is cutting back under the "new normal," taking "staycations" and maybe trying to use a Link card to pay for it -- and because the economic mess has impacted them personally they are telling politicians of both parties they need a vacation from THEM until September. I agree that "tuning out" is not the answer, but I don't think Charley is saying we should do that.

Thanks for the comment. I am not crazy yet... but perhaps soon with the assault of election ads with propaganda from the left and from the right coming up quickly to a television/radio/billboard/mailbox near you. The cartoon is not about forgetting or ignoring what current elected officials in government are doing or not doing... its about political campaigns in this presidential election year.
