Blotter: LT Incidents, Reckless Drivers and More

The following items are from Patch's reporting of the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

 

Purse Stolen Outside School

A woman told La Grange police at about 8:09 a.m. Jan. 23 that her purse was stolen out of her vehicle while she was dropping off her children at St. Cletus School, 700 W. 55th St. Police did not list its value.

Two Incidents at LT

Someone shot a BB pellet through a single-pane window at Lyons Township High School North Campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., La Grange police learned at about 7:53 a.m. Jan. 25. The damage was estimated at $200.

An 18-year-old Western Springs man who was not wanted on the upper-floor library at the Lyons Township High School North Campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., left without incident at about 1:41 p.m. Jan. 24.  

Delivery Scam Suspected

A resident of the 1000 block of Spring Avenue reported someone was pounding on the door at about 8:30 a.m. Jan. 25 and left a delivery tag for UPS that appeared fake. La Grange police will keep a special watch on the home and advised calling 9-1-1  immediately next time.

Two Pupils Hurt

A boy who hit his head in the main gymnasium of Gurrie Middle School, 1000 S. Spring Ave., was taken by La Grange Fire Department ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at about 7:32 p.m. Jan. 24.

An 11-year-old girl who passed out, but later gained consciousness, in the basement library at St. Francis Xavier School, 145 N. Waiola Ave., was taken by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at about 9:15 a.m. Jan. 23.

‘Vagrant’ returned to Dolton

An off-duty Dolton fire lieutenant reported seeing a man from Dolton, who is a vagrant, in Corner Bakery, 39 N. La Grange Rd., at about 1:45 p.m. Jan. 24. The fire department member said he would take the man back to Dolton but he does not know how the man got to La Grange.  

Suspicious Witnesses

Two women wearing black coats and all-black clothing came to the door of a home on the 200 block of south Waiola Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 and wanted to come inside because they were cold, the resident told La Grange police. Officers found the women down the block, said they were Jehovah’s Witnesses and everything was OK.

Man Turns Self In

A 38-year-old Burbank man, Feras I. Shuman, came to the La Grange Park police station at about 11:03 p.m. Jan. 21, said he believed he was wanted on a warrant and wanted to turn himself in.  The department found he was wanted on a Chicago police warrant for failure to appear in court on a DUI charge and was wanted on a $25,000 bond. He was unable to post the $2,500 bail and held for Chicago police, who picked him up.

Driver Gets 3 Tickets

A 26-year-old Chicago woman received three traffic tickets after a La Grange Park police officer saw her car going north on the 600 block of Sherwood without the license plate being lit.  The license plate also came back as suspended. Kristin M. Heinlein was ticketed for no plate light, suspended plates and suspended driver’s license.   

Drivers Reckless

A woman living on the 400 block of Seventh Avenue called La Grange police at about 7:23 p.m. Jan. 25 to say another car was tailgating hers since 47th Street and La Grange Road and now was at her home. Police talked to the other driver, a 44-year-old La Grange man, who said he saw the woman texting and driving and was trying to get her off the phone. Both were told to call police next time and not to text and drive.  

A black Charger was reported driving recklessly at 49th Street and Ashland Avenue at about 7:12 p.m. Jan, 25 and last was seen driving north on Ashland. Police could not find the vehicle.

A woman reported a red vehicle tried to pass her and struck a pole at 49th Street and Brainard Avenue at about 7:41 p.m. Jan. 23 and was now driving recklessly. The car was gone when police arrived. The parkway and a sign were not damaged, an officer said.  

Hit-and-Run Reported

A hit-and-run accident was reported at about 4:04 p.m. Jan. 24 in the parking lot of Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Rd.
