'Holocaust Never Happened,'Art Jones, Republican Congressional Candidate Says
Art Jones, who hopes to challenge Democrat Dan Lipinski in Illinois' 3rd Congressional District, neither denies nor repudiates his past affiliation with the neo-Nazi Party.
A congressional candidate running as a Republican in the upcoming Illinois primary for a seat in the 3rd District says the “Holocaust never happened.”
Arthur Jones, 64, a Lyons, IL, insurance salesman who organizes family-friendly, neo-Nazi events around Adolf Hitler’s birthday, hopes to be the Republican candidate chosen to run against Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski in Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District.
“As far as I’m concerned, the Holocaust is nothing more than an international extortion racket by the Jews,” Jones said. “It’s the blackest lie in history. Millions of dollars are being made by Jews telling this tale of woe and misfortune in books, movies, plays and TV.
"The more survivors, the more lies that are told."
A member of the Nationalist Socialist Party in his younger days, Jones took part in the Nazis’ march on Chicago’s Marquette Park in 1978. While he doesn’t deny nor repudiate his “past affiliations,” he says he votes Republican “90 percent of the time.”
“Philosophically, I’m a National Socialist,” Jones said. “Officially, I don’t belong to any party except my own, the America First Committee.”
Jones hopes three’s a charm after blowing his retirement savings on two prior congressional runs. He hopes to win the Republican primary and go on to challenge Lipinski this November. The 3rd District covers portions of Chicago's South Side and a large swath of the south suburbs.
Part of the reason he’s jumping in again is what he describes as Lipinski’s strange affiliation with the American Israel Pro Israel Affairs Committee.
“(The committee) was bragging on their website how (Lipinski) is ‘spearheading’ the effort in the House of Representatives with a Jewish congressman from Virginia named Frank Wolf,” Jones said. “The two are spearheading an effort in the House to get tough with Iran, including closing off any oil exports to China that could lead to World War III.”
While Jones said Wolf was Jewish, he is Presbyterian.
Jones compares today's conditions in the United States to Germany following the end of World War I.
“Our country is falling apart economically, politically, culturally, militarily,” he said. “We are going down.”
A veteran of the Vietnam War with all of its modern horrors, he sees the same betrayal in the “so-called War on Terrorism.”
“These war-mongering fools in congress like Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney—we can’t let Iran have one nuclear weapon but we let Israel have all the nuclear weapons they want,” Jones said. “This is ridiculous.”
Jones is on the ballot against Jim Falvey and Richard Grabowski in a district that has sent a conservative Democrat to Congress for decades. The district includes sizable ethnic populations, primarily the descendants of Irish, German, Polish and Czech immigrants.
In his Patch candidate questionnaire, Jones submitted that he's not been convicted of a felony but has been arrested for "minor street skirmishes with Leftists."
Editor's Note: Story has been updated to reflect that Congressman Frank Wolf is Presbyterian and not Jewish.

What is going on in Illinois? Is there not one qualified citizen living there that is qualified to hold any government position? Your history is not so bright lately looking at the crop of politicians produced there in the last 20 or so years. Wake up Illinois. I'd invite you to the upcoming election but, no one is qualified. You need to fix that so you can come out and play with the rest of the states...just the ones on the map...not the ones Obama thinks we have. There's another Illinois idiot .

The Illinois GOP's response to Mr. jones' stance:
ILGOP Statement on Candidacy of Neo-Nazi in 3rd Congressional District
Arthur Jones, who has denied the existence of the Holocaust and is an avowed Neo-Nazi, has filed nominating papers in the 3rd Congressional District as a Republican.
Illinois Republican Party Pat Brady issued the following statement:
“The Illinois Republican Party disavows any association with the candidacy of Arthur Jones and ask that all citizens of Illinois do the same. His views and previous statements are repugnant and his candidacy should not and will not be supported in any way by the Illinois Republican Party. Unfortunately, pathetic and ignorant human beings like Arthur Jones still exist - my sympathies are with the members of our Jewish community as well as other communities to which Mr. Jones has directed his hate.”

Brady's comments are disgusting. It ought to be against the law for an offical of a political party to badmouth a candidate, OR his platform, especially with epithets like "pathetic", "repugnant", and "ignorant".

I would like to see more than just words from the Illinois Republican Party. They need to physically show up at any of his campaign events and shut them down.

This is a hateful, disgusting man..I have known holocaust survivors..I have seen the tattoos, I've looked into eyes that watched families slaughtered, I listened to their stories. How could they lie about such things? Shame on you Arthur Jones you should not be allowed on any ballot!!!

Does anyone know anything about the other two candidates? Unlike Mr. Jones, one of them might make some sense. I am not a fan of Mr. Lipinski, but if this individual is on the ballot I will be campaigning for him!

GOP primary voters have two other options: Richard Grabowski and Jim Falvey. I do not believe either is a Holocaust denier.

Darren, I assumed that the other two candidates are sane. (OK, I am an optimist.) What I wondered is do we know where their information and views can be seen? Clearly Mr. Jones, while he has an undoubted right to campaign, is not my idea of a candidate! If the Republicans are to challenge for the seat, someone has to be on the ballot who makes some sense. That is why I asked.

This guy is a complete moron. Not only is he wrong about the Holocaust, but he must be an absolute dumb s**t to put his views into the public forum in the guise of running in a political race where he opens himself and his family up to intense criticism and ridicule. He is an embarrassment to the human race.

If you look at the world with the glass half full you will realize this situation, however upsetting, has made people pay attention and realize that there is another qualified candidate running! When we get a qualified candidate, unless they make a mistake or have something bizarre about them, you don't see much of them in the press. Jim Falvey is such a candidate! People like Mr. Jones upset me to the absolute core of my being! However, I live is the greatest country in the world, so he can voice his uniformed and most ignorant of opinions! Americans get mad! More importantly be informed! Take a stand and VOTE! Know who you are voting for!

I don't like to see the english language impoverished by having generic words, like "holocaust", expropriated to apply only to a specific instance of the phenomenon it was meant to describe generally. In this case the philological damage has been almost total, since the word is now regularly used without even a capital H. But the thing I find particularly reprehensible is that at the same time the so-called Holocaust was taking place, 50 million non-Jews were being killed in a world Conflagration that would not have occurred had it not been for the introduction of the world destroying ideology of Communism by the Jew, Karl Marx, and the horrific massacres of Germans residing in the Danzig corridor, carried out by Marx's fellow Bolshevik Jews in Russia.

And just to add insult to injury, the vastly exaggerated deaths of six million Jews has been used as an excuse to punish Germany, when in fact it was our own war crimes of carpet bombing whole German cities which destroyed that country's infrastructure, thereby cutting off vital supplies of food, water, and medicine to the relocation work faciities (erroneously called "concentration camps"), thus triggering massive Typhus outbreaks, requiring cremation and mass burials burials to prevent the epidemic from spreading. So perhaps Mr. Jones' opinions are not "uninformed and ignorant" after all.

I have been blessed to have a special human being such as Elie Wiesel as a friend! I can assure you his teen years were not at a "work camp" that was denied supplies! The first day he arrived he watched his Grandmother, Mother and little sister (in her little red coat) escorted to the crematorium! The photos of him as a human skeleton as the camp was liberated was not because the American's bombed Germany! You don't murder 1.5 million human beings in a "work camp" because the supply chain was distrubed! I suggest you read "Night", I suggest you visit the Concentration Camps, and then if you can muster the intellect, realize that massive camp was not created as a work camp! And stand on the tracks at Auschwitz and try to explain away how small children were taken from trains and put to death year after year because of what you believe to be a distrubance in the supply chain. I traveled in Europe with Elie and leaders from five countries with taught hatred! It is our job to plant the seeds of peace and embrace what binds us together not what tears us apart! Finally, Germany invaded others in 1939, to make it sound like Germany was a victim in World War II is a disgrace to all those who gave their lives!

Matthew, I respect your policy of not allowing quotes from external sources, and instead restricting comments to commenters' own opinions and words. However I am sure you would agree that that policy should be implemented fairly and consistently. As a news reporter I am sure you recognize the importance of objectivity and impartiality, espeically in covering political contests. And so, having deleted my material, which was supportive of Mr. Jones' candicacy, I'm sure you will want to delete that portion of Teri's previous post (3:42PM Wednesday February 29th), in which he quotes a statement by Republican official Pat Brady which is extremely damaging to Mr. Jones' candidacy.
