$5 Million in Public Improvements Proposed for La Grange
The Stone Avenue station and Maple Avenue sewers are among the highest-budget projects for 2013-2014; also, the Village Board discussed electrical aggregation.
Improvements proposed for the Village of La Grange in the 2013-2014 fiscal year include the Maple Avenue Sewer Relief project, renovating the Stone Avenue train station and nearby parking lot, pedestrian safety improvements and replacing the fountain in front of Village Hall, among others, totaling $5 million, The Doings La Grange reports.
According to the paper, a major topic of discussion at Monday’s Board of Trustees meeting was the postponement of $1.1 million for sewer relief on Ogden Avenue, given that such renovations are already planned for Gordon Park; another topic was a proposed traffic light for the corner of 47th Street and East Avenue, for which a public hearing is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The Doings also reported that the board discussed the planned electrical aggregation program, which is estimated to save residents 45-55 percent on their electrical bills if it passes in the 2013 elections.
